It’s finally February! After a very, very long January (doesn’t the wait for pay day get longer each year?) things are starting to look brighter with lighter mornings and plants beginning to peep out of the soil. We can think about booking holidays again and imagine what we’ll get up to when the weather (hopefully) starts to improve!
At RSPCA M&S we have been beavering away putting together ideas for events in 2022. Our first big fundraiser is going to be our super-duper animal-themed quiz at Dulcimer Bar in Chorlton on Sunday 27 February, 7pm.
Our long term supporters Hannah and Dave have created the most wonderful evening of entertainment which includes a quiz with lots of prizes to win, the ever popular raffle (with even more prizes to win!) and a bonus ‘creative’ round where you will be asked to show us how nifty you are with modelling clay…… we won’t ruin the surprise!
Tickets are £3 each and you can either join us in person or via Zoom.

We thought we’d use this blog post to tell you what we are fundraising for and why we’d love for you to come along.
As many of our supporters will know, we’ve had a very large case of rabbits in our care for 10 months (‘case’ animals are where the National RSPCA have an investigation pending and the animals haven’t been signed over by their owner). They have pretty much taken over our small animal room and caused quite a bit of mischief along the way despite our staff and volunteers best efforts to keep them occupied!
We need to raise funds to get the room back to working order so we can continue to house rescued hamsters, gerbils, rats and guinea pigs (as was originally intended!).
This includes:
- New flooring
- Work benches
- Cupboards
We’ve also seen a massive increase in the number of ratties needing our help. If you follow our social media you’ll have seen how many groups, pairs and singles we’ve had up for adoption recently. Therefore, we really need additional rat housing to help keep up with demand for our spaces.
On top of this, we also have the gorgeously handsome Fabio.
Fabio Hello!
Fabio is one of our latest admissions to the centre and he’s had quite the time of it. He came into our care with a very nasty broken leg after being found stray and unable to walk properly. Our team and vets are working very hard to try and save his leg which is why he’s on cage rest for the next 6 weeks. We hope to work a miracle and save Fabio’s leg but if not, amputation might be the only option for this poor chap. Rehabilitating injured animals like Fabio is expensive and time consuming therefore we really need your donations to help us.
So if you are free on Sunday 27 February, message your friends/family, round up a team (up to 4 people) and book your ticket for our quiz. We promise you’ll be thoroughly entertained and have the lovely warm feeling of helping lots of animals just like Fabio and our rogue rabbits!
